Commenting on Peer Group's Pitch

On Wednesday the 16th of December was the pitching event where all of the project groups made their pitches on their projects. Our peer group is the Museum Pedagogy group who are doing their project for Turku Art Museum. In our opinion the pitch was good overall, the pitcher was relaxed and confident but sadly too quiet and at times hard to hear. Slides for the pitch were good but bullet points should not have been used. But as mentioned before the pitch was good, the idea and solution came through well. We cannot really expect perfection since for many of us this was a first time pitching a project in such a way so there is room for improvement as always.

Rapid Prototyping

The plan of rapid prototyping covers the following questions:
  • Hypothesis: In what/which question(s) are we looking for an answer?
  • Method/Tools: How will we test the hypothesis?
  • How to validate our idea?
Our problem to which we are looking to solve is - How to attract potential Business customers to contact Terveystalo before making their decision whether to buy services from Terveystalo or not. The representatives of Terveystalo also emphasized that they would like us to find out a way that the companies would leave their contact information, so that Terveystalo could contact the potential customer and do F2F selling and also offer extra services. Terveystalo are aiming to reach SME's, but would also don't mind if our solution could be implemented to LE's.

The way we want to solve this problem is to implement a gamified solution to present relevant data and information for the potential customer. This data would be statistics and data for example on common health problems (and how to solve them) for different fields of work as well as how to save money on investing on health care to improve work ability within the company.

The only way we can validate our idea is to present our paper prototype to our PO Terveystalo. We have sent that idea to our PO and are now waiting for their comments on our idea.

Week 50

This week again we caught up on some tasks we were unable to do before. The great positive is that we now have some more refined ideas and a clearer vision of what we would want to do and what we think would be a good possible solution for the project. As usually the work we have completed can be found on our blog from the earlier post such as our moodboard and interim Report.

Next week on Wednesday we will be pitching our ideas. We will also have a stand in the main lobby of the Lemminkäinen unit during Monday to Wednesday, between the time of 10:30 am and 13:00 pm.

Interim Report

Thinking out of the box

At the beginning, we were brainstorming about the solution for main problems in Terveystalo's B2B sales. The problem concerns the selling of Terveystalo's products and services mainly to SME's. The potential customers do not contact Terveystalo before making the decision to buy their services or not. This also means that Terveystalo won't be able to sell the potential customers any extra services or customize the health care package.

Some of the ideas we came up with includes the following:
  • Interactive Poster
  • Introduction or behind-the-scenes videos
  • Animations
  • Visualized reports/posters..

The idea we settled for is described in the blog-post below. The gamification aspect of the main idea can be executed in various ways. The idea we settled for brings information and data about Terveystalo's service in a form of a Matrix or Grid. You can read more about it in the blog-post below. The idea has been sent to the representatives of Terveystalo, and we now wait for comments on our idea. When Terveystalo comments on our idea, we can make some changes to our idea if needed, or continue on designing our idea and then execute it.

There has still not been any changes to the roles of each team member, this might change when we actually start executing our idea. The roles at moment are as follows:

Project Manager: Alex
Vice Project Manager: Valtteri
Programming: Li, Iiro, Yinan, Valtteri (Programming team leader: Iiro)
UI planning: Roosa and Michael
Photography: Yinan
Drawing: Roosa
Graphics: Michael
Documentation: Haris, Michael, Alex
Animation: Li

Brainstorming Ideas

There was a lot of discussion and brainstorming for ideas in the group meeting. Every member of the group was coming up with good ideas. The common point we chose to develop was regarding data. Mainly data and information about Terveystalo’s health care packages for b2b customers. How to actually gamify this was the real task once we’d chosen that common point. Below is one of the most agreed on idea we had.

Calculation Matrix

The idea is to have this grid/matrix of questions and themes. Each cell would have a word, question or statement. These could be about anything Terveystalo would want them to be. Some examples could be the size of the company (<20, <200, <1000 etc.), the field the customer is operating in (office, construction, trucking...), is the customer interested in preventative care or just a basic healthcare package, how many times the company needs healthcare services/month, it could also include some common health issues, like back problems. The point is, that the potential customer could click on the cells that interest the company or that provide some facts or figures relating to their field.

Under the grid there could be a text field/graph/road map/poster… illustrating in real time the choices user has selected, it could offer some extra info and encourage the customer to select more cells. Perhaps the potential customer gets some small useful and funny facts when they click open the cells. When clicking and unclicking cells there could also be some kind of calculator calculating an approximate cost and savings based on the selected cells. When the customer has chosen the cells he/she wants, they then get an attractive animated poster or report and gets to submit their contact information.

The idea stated above could also be visualized in other ways, but the common point would stay the same, as in info about Terveystalo’s health care options for Business Customers. Another visualization could be to create a roadmap, almost like a pirate map. There, the potential customer goes through various steps, one by one, building the package he/she wishes to have and at the end of the survey gets a similar poster or report stated in the example above.

We chose this main idea of presenting info because Terveystalo emphasized that potential customers make their choice before contacting Terveystalo. The wish was to reach SME, but it would be positive if it could include LE as well. In our idea that is possible. Choosing an animated or otherwise attractive (e.g) poster on the index page, it would draw attention to the customer. When clicking on that, it would open the actual app. Terveystalo also emphasized that they want the customer to leave their contact info, so that Terveystalo could contact them to be able to F2F selling. That is also possible in this web app. By chosing this main idea, there are several ways to actually gamify this, so adjustments can easily be done later on.

Ideas and Moodboard

Today we finally got to brainstorm about ideas for our Project. We came up with a number of ideas - some of them are listed on the Moodboard below.

From the ideas we chose a common starting point, and worked at some ideas on how to gamify that. The common starting point at the moment is looking to be data, information about Terveystalo's health care packages to be exact. The way to visualize and gamify that can be done in various ways!

Stakeholder Map

Project Stakeholder Map

Week 49

This week we had our first meeting with our project owner, a lot of our questions got answered and we were able to complete some tasks that were left floating because of this. The tasks that we were able to continue with include our mindmap, idea tree and stakeholder map. This Wednesday we also had a scrum simulation with Legos, with our peer group. We continued brainstorming ideas for a possible solution for the project and hope to have a clear vision and a prototype soon.

Mind Map

Below is our Mind Map. The thought we have at the moment is to create a web based Gamification Solution for Terveystalo.

Meeting with Project Owner - Terveystalo

The meeting began at 2:15 at Terveystalo Piazza in Helsinki. Present at the meeting was the PO (Thomas Hynninen - sales and accounting, Thomas Westerholm - Service Director of Occupational Healthcare). From the Diva group, present was Michael, Alex, Yinan, Li, Haris, Roosa, Iiro and our tutor Balsam.

The meeting began with a general introduction. We were given a PowerPoint presentation, which contained general information about Terveystalo and the answers to the questions that we sent them. The presentation will be sent to us later. They will also send us some material which is in Finnish and needs to translated. That includes charts, data maps, statistics and diagnostic charts.

During the presentation they also told us that digitalization is important for modern healthcare and it drives healthcare services forward.

B2B customers' contact with Terveystalo goes both ways, customers contact Terveystalo and Terveystalo contacts customers. This is how Terveystalo define customer needs.

One of the main problems they are facing, is how to expand their services to SME's. It is also difficult to define healthcare as a product and place a value of health because it's intangible.

Terveystalo's goals and aims for this project:
  • To encourage SME's to contact them and to reach face to face phase of the selling process to discuss the proposals before making a deal
  • To improve their website or create another channel where decision makers of potential customers search for information.
Before the meeting ended, there was a short session where we asked questions about what they would be requiring from us. All in all, we got some good information and now have a much clearer picture of what Terveystalo wishes us to do.
